Here’s a true resolution for you…resolve to be your best self, everyday. That pretty much captures all resolutions within a nice, tidy little affirmation that you’ve personally decided to be the best person you can be…mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally. No easy task, I’m sure. Yet, it is the highest and truest resolution we can make for the New Year.
Resolution synonyms: declaration, decision, promise, pledge, decree, oath, ruling, and here’s the kicker…motion…I like to think of it not in the sense of a court or legal circumstance, but of motion as a form of movement. Yes, there is the resolve, the decision that you declare to others and yourself, but…what about the motion? There needs to be fluid movement in attaining the sought after declared event or state of being. I wrote this little thing on my notebook a while back.
“Results are a product of action, based on intention, and born of dreams.” – by TR Hughes
Dream it, intend it, the ACT. It is through action that results are achieved.
We can want something all day long…but if wanting is all you’re going to give…then you might as well give up. I, for one, am so intensely guilty for this travesty in my own life. There are lots of things I want or desire to be, to have, to accomplish. Yet, if truth be known, I could very well be the poster child for inaction, at times.
If you have a really big goal, try breaking it down into micro movements…little steps that add up to distance on your path. If you have multiple goals, as I think most people do, then itemize and prioritize them into a plan, a doable plan…with action steps weekly or even daily.
So…let us all get off our butts and go about our business at hand, surrounding those resolutions with motion. For me, I feel enlivened and invigorated and ready to tackle the upcoming week. I’m off to exercise. Have a great day, all. And remember…
Live Well. Live on Purpose. Live Your Dreams.

I think resolutions are important, but only if we don't use our lack of sticking to them as an excuse for letting them fall away come February 1st. And, of course, we have to be realistic about the resolutions we set... what good is it to make this huge list of "resolutions" if it serves to overwhelm you to the point of doing nothing?
Making one list of things to accomplish in a year doesn't work for me. I find that I do better when I make a big picture list and then revisit the list each month and break it down into steps that I can take each month toward my overall goal. However we approach it, though, I think it's important to look ahead and set new goals for life. Great article!
I wanted to leave a comment about your wine selections! I love them. And here's one for you: A delicious Australian Sav. Blanc called "Groom." Crisp, clean and not too sweet--just right! Let me know what you think.
I can't wait to try your wine suggestion! Thanks MJ.
