Eggs are the Perfect Food

Eggs, over the years, have gotten a bad reputation. However, much of the medical community now agrees on the benefits of eggs as opposed to their previous negative conclusions. Several studies have now shown that eggs are not prominent in adversely affecting cholesterol levels. As a rule of thumb, it is now considered not only safe, but optimal to include 2 eggs in the daily diet.

Eggs have all the necessary amino acids and a bio-availability value of 100, which means that the protein found in eggs basically increase nitrogen supply within the muscle tissues. This is good news for dieters and exercisers. Often, when watching calories, in particular lowering carbohydrates, the body starts attacking the muscle mass to create carbohydrates for fuel. Also good news for those watching their weight is the abundant source of lecithin found in eggs. Lecithin is, at its most mundane level, a fat emulsifier.

Another star, Choline, is actually a coenzyme used in metabolism regulation. Choline is also very important in promoting proper brain function and health. Also present is Lutein, a carotenoid that is important for eye health and aiding the prevention of cataracts and macular degeneration. In addition look at the huge host of vitamins and minerals in eggs...

(Vit. A, D, E, most of the B’s, some others and over 16 minerals/trace minerals)

I prefer the added benefits of buying Omega-3 Eggs. At about 75 calories per egg, they are well suited for diet inclusion and are available year round on the cheap. Egg whites are fine too, yet, you are not getting the full gamut of health benefits by consuming only the whites.

If you think about the egg in the simplest of terms…everything you need to create a living thing is found in an egg…it hatches, it eats/drinks…it lives. It started as an egg and everything it needed to live was right there in the shell. That’s what I call a perfect food. I love eggs.
